With numerous players fleeing the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, another forward has decided to opt for the KHL, as the NHL was starting to become a pipe dream.
Joseph Blandisi is a player who has been with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization for a few seasons now, although he has spent all of his time with the Marlies.
With the Marlies, he has been a solid player. He had 59 points two seasons ago, but it was clear that he was never going to get an opportunity with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Joseph Blandisi goes to the KHL
According to SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL, Blandisi has signed a contract with the team, which means the forward is off to Russia.
SKA is one of the premier teams in the KHL, so it should come as no surprise that Blandisi would want to take his talents there.
As for the Toronto Marlies, they offered up a nice message to the forward, noting that he did a ton for the community and that he will be missed by the fans.
For everything you've done for our team and community, thank you!
Blandisi was a solid AHL player, and we're sure he is going to be a solid player over in the KHL, which will be a better use of his skills.
It's not easy to make the NHL, especially when the league is loaded with talent, and everyone is so close together.
We wish Blandisi the best of luck with his new team.
