The Edmonton Oilers are in desperate need of a goaltender, and the Toronto Maple Leafs have two of them. However, talks right now are non-existent.

If you watched the Stanley Cup Finals this past season, it became obvious to everyone that the team is in desperate need of a goaltender.
Overall, goalies are not easy to find these days. While Stuart Skinner has flashes of brilliance, he is not consistent enough. If you want Connor McDavid to win a Cup, then you must give him an elite netminder.
That said, the Oilers are going around to various teams. Surprisingly, they are actively avoiding the Toronto Maple Leafs, who could hold the key to their success.

Edmonton Oilers could use a Toronto Maple Leafs goalie

We say that because, according to Cam Robinson, the Oilers recently reached out to the Detroit Red Wings about Trey Augustine. They were promptly told no.
The Oilers want a long-term solution, and they figured the Detroit Red Wings might be the place to go. However, it remains clear they must contact the Maple Leafs.
They are looking a little more long term; I was told they've contacted Detroit; I believe the first person they asked about was Trey Augustine...that was a non starter; they have...Sebastian Cossa is sitting there
Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll are two phenomenal goalies, and the Leafs are a team that could stand to give one of them up. This is especially true since Stolarz is in line for a huge contract in 2026.
While the Maple Leafs would command a hefty price for one of these goalies, they are the perfect team to do business with as they are one of the few teams with two amazing goalies at a low price.
Woll makes just over $3 million per season, while Stolarz makes $2.5 million. It would be a low-cost endeavor for the Oilers, at least from a salary cap perspective.
Meanwhile, the Leafs could take on a guy like Skinner, who would be perfect in a backup role. For now, however, the Oilers continue to look the other way.
