The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to make some big moves prior to the trade deadline, however, the New York Islanders have just made it much more difficult.
New York Islanders center
Brock Nelson has been named in numerous trade rumors over the last few weeks.
Is Brock Nelson going to be traded by the New York Islanders?
There were numerous reports coming out that the Islanders were looking for a top prospect and a first-round pick for Nelson which is a steep. price.
Now, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet is reporting that the Islanders are now focused on re-signing Nelson and that they would rather hold onto their center.
"I think the Islanders are about to begin a real attempt to try and sign him and we'll see how that develops over the next couple of weeks."
This is very understandable as the Islanders are on a role while Nelson has 17 goals and 35 points.
The team is looking to make a playoff push and that means they cannot be sellers at the deadline.
Either way, the Maple Leafs are looking to be buyers and it makes sense when you consider how this team is on the verge of being first place in the Atlantic Division.
Hopefully, Brad Treliving is able to work his magic before the trade deadline is here and gone.
