Toronto Maple Leafs Will Have to Make an Important Decision Involving Bobby McMann Very Soon

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann has proven to be as solid as they come when it comes to playing in the bottom-six, and a contract extension is looming.
Bobby McMann is a player who has proven to the Toronto Maple Leafs that he can give them 20 goals per season.
Overall, the forward had 34 points last season, which included 20 goals and another 14 assists. However, his playoff numbers were abysmal with just three assists in 13 games.
Having said that, McMann is now going into the final year of his contract, worth $1.35 million per season. He will become an unrestricted free agent in 2026, and there is a lot of fanfare around his upcoming deal.
Is Bobby McMann in for a contract extension?
Whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs give McMann an extension is going to depend on whether or not he has a good season, or if he has already reached his peak.
In fact, The Leafs Nation recently put out a report where they noted that if McMann were to re-sign with the Leafs, it is likely his deal would come in at just under $3 million per season.
There might be some concern that the bubble has burst on McMann's offence in the NHL, but given that his size is still there and he still is the same guy that put up 20 goals, a full blown panic isn't warranted yet. It does, however, potentially present the Leafs with their last best opportunity to either cash out on McMann before he gets more expensive or to re-sign him at the lowest point of his NHL career to a more manageable cap hit going forward.
This number assumes that McMann hits a hard wall and is unable to make a leap to the 25-goal mark.
If he were to score fewer than 20 goals, then perhaps his contract numbers would come down. But if he keeps improving, then there is no doubt that a larger raise could be in store.
These are good problems for the Leafs to have, and there is no doubt that the 2026 offseason will be a busy one.
Only time will tell whether or not McMann can continue to be the team's best hidden gem.
