William Nylander chewed out by Craig Berube over boneheaded play on Capitals' game-winning goal

Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander messed up on the game-winning goal by the Washington Capitals, and Craig Berube let him know about it.
William Nylander might be the leading goal-scorer on the Maple Leafs this season, but he is not prone to messing up and costing his team a game like he did on Saturday night against the Capitals.

During Nic Dowd's winning goal, Nylander misread a play and ended up leaving the zone which gave the Capitals a brief 5-on-4 sequence.
Subsequently, Dowd buried the puck into a wide-open net, and the Leafs forward could be seen gliding into the frame.
After the game, Craig Berube had some brutally honest thoughts about Nylander's mishap and how the team needs to stop making those kinds of mistakes.
"It's a read. If we got possession, we want to blow out of the zone there and catch him, and he does it very well. He's gotten breakaways from it and putting a team in a tough situation.
But that whole shift for me started in neutral zone where we had an opportunity to get the puck deep and get a line change, and we don't. Now they're back in our zone, and we get the puck again.
There are probably two or three opportunities where we get the puck, and we didn't get it out, and then it's in our net. Those are the mistakes that cost us tonight."

If you are Nylander, you should know better at this point, although we suppose these things are bound to happen.
Moreover, he has 18 assists and a total of 41 points which puts him behind Mitch Marner for the most on the entire team.
Needless to say, Nylander is not the Maple Leafs' problem this year, however, last night, he wasn't exactly the solution either.
Now, the team just needs to regroup and get themselves right as they head into the New Year.
