After the Detroit Red Wings lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs, some fans are getting brutally honest about what might be wrong with this team.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had themselves a bad game against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday as they lost by a score of 6-3.
Fans were expecting a lot better from the Maple Leafs, but in the end, they just couldn't keep up, and it left the team in a very bad spot.
They also got outshot during the game, which is something that needs to be ironed out. There is no reason why a team with Auston Matthews should be struggling to score.

Toronto Maple Leafs are lacking pace

Having said that, after last night's game, some fans on X revealed what the real issue with this team is. As it turns out, the team is slow.
Leafs are very slow. This is a concern. Speed should be a focus but Leafs couldn't care less.
After adding a bunch of size and becoming the largest team in the NHL by weight, the Leafs have completely lost their speed, which is a serious issue.
I'm confused why, for years after Leafs lose due to lack of goals, Edna only hears Leafs need to get bigger and more physical?
They are the biggest team. Now what?

Fast teams win championships, and if this is the kind of pace the Leafs will put up throughout the season, then they won't be going very far.
This is something that the Leafs are going to have to work on, and general manager Brad Treliving will have to strive to fix this.
On Monday, the Maple Leafs play the Red Wings, and this will certainly be a good litmus test for whether or not fans were overreacting.
