James Reimer got a PTO with his former team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, although tragically, this didn't work out, and now, Reimer must find a job.
When
Joseph Woll left the Toronto Maple Leafs on a leave of absence, it became clear to everyone that the team would need to upgrade at backup.
Some felt like
Dennis Hildeby wasn't good enough. As a result, the team signed James Reimer to a PTO. For many, this was a fun moment as it brought back a goaltender who occupies a unique space in the team's history.
The Leafs have since claimed
Cayden Primeau off waivers, and he will be the backup until Woll gets back into the lineup.
James Reimer on returning to the Toronto Maple Leafs
Recently, Reimer was on 'Leafs Morning Take,' and it was here where he revealed his thoughts on being called by the Maple Leafs.
As you can see, he didn't have any expectations, and his good experience with the Leafs was a huge reason why he wanted to give this a try.
When the Toronto Maple Leafs come calling, you pick up the phone.
Reimer has to make some big decisions going forward, as his NHL career currently hangs in the balance.
We certainly hope to see him back in the NHL someday, although for now, it doesn't appear as though there are any takers.
Either way, we wish him the best of luck. Just because it didn't work out in Toronto doesn't mean it can't work out somewhere else.
