Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is now playing for a new team just days after his team lost to the Florida Panthers in the NHL Playoffs.
William Nylander was arguably the best player on the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, and there is no denying that he was great in the playoffs.
However, following a Game 7 loss to the Florida Panthers, Nylander has already made a bold decision involving his hockey future.
William Nylander joins Team Sweden
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, William Nylander has joined Team Sweden at the IIHF World Championships. He is doing so just in time for the knockout round.
The Swedes have a very good chance of going far in the tournament, and adding Nylander to the mix is certainly going to help their chances.
He is an injection of offense, and he also brings some experience, seeing as though he just played at the Four Nations Face-Off just a few months ago.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you can't help but root for Nylander as he embarks on this journey at the World Championships.
Although we are still hoping that it is Team Canada who ends up taking it all home. That said, we doubt
Mitch Marner will want to play.
It is rare for a player like Nylander to join the tournament so late. However, it speaks to just how much he loves hockey and loves playing for his country.
It speaks volumes to the type of hockey player he is and we truly do wish him all the best.
