In case you haven't been paying attention, there is some controversy in the NHL right now involving the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Knies was knocked out of the game, while Whitecloud did not receive a single penalty.
Since that time, there has been a huge debate about the hit and whether or not it was actually worthy of a penalty or worse, a suspension.
That is where Tim Peel enters the conversation. Below, he weighed in on the hit, claiming that no penalty should have been issued.
Tim Peel speaks on Zach Whitecloud
"I cannot believe this is even a question. The biggest thing that bothers me about our great game now is when there is a big hit the player that threw the hit has to engage in a fight or a scrum ensues. We cannot take the physicality out of our game. It is one of the elements that makes our sport so good! Answer D!"
One has to wonder if Peel truly believes that and whether or not he would have officiated it the same way.
Of course, we will never know as the NHL doesn't want anything to do with Peel, and they never will again.
Whatever the case may be, Whitecloud got off without any issues and the NHL now has to think long and hard about things.
At this point, fans really do believe there is an anti-Leafs bias at the Department of Player Safety.
