Ontario NHL Team Granted Major Approval for Massive New Arena Development

NHL arenas can be pretty difficult to build; however, once you have a plot of land, things fall into place, and the Ottawa Senators know this all too well.
For years now, the Ottawa Senators have been complaining about the Canadian Tire Center, and its lack of proximity to the city.
Attendance numbers aren't always the greatest, and the tickets have gotten pretty cheap. For the Senators organization, this isn't the best recipe for making money.
Having said that, the Senators have been working on creating a new arena at LeBreton flats. The only hang up was they needed to purchase the plot of land first.
Ottawa Senators to replace the Canadian Tire Center
Today, a sale was made as the Senators were able to acquire 11 acres of land to create a new event center that will be state of the art.
Cyril Leeder, the CEO of the Ottawa Senators, is understandably very excited about this new initiative.
We are pleased to reach an agreement of purchase and sale with the NCC to take the next step in this process. There are still many more hurdles to clear and we look forward to working with the NCC and other stakeholders to achieve our shared vision of creating an event centre at LeBreton Flats that can be enjoyed by our Ottawa-Gatineau community.
For now, the Senators still have to figure out quite a bit before putting shovels in the ground at their new facility.
Having said that, this is going to be a huge moment for the fanbase, and for the organization as a whole.
Building arenas can be expensive, but if one thing is certain, it is that the new arenas around the world look amazing, and we imagine this one will be great too.
While Toronto Maple Leafs fans might be jealous, it is important to remember that Scotiabank Arena is a great facility.
