Toronto Marlies forward Alex Steeves was recently demoted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, however, he is now making history with the team's AHL affiliate.
Recently, Alex Steeves was called up by the Toronto Maple Leafs, however, it did not work out as well as the fans were hoping and he was one of the first players sent back down.
Now, Steeves is back with the Toronto Marlies and he continues to play at an extremely high level.
On Saturday, Steeves was in action for the Marlies in a 5-4 loss against the Laval Rocket.
Alex Steeves is a beast with the Toronto Marlies
In this game, Steeves got his 11th and 12th goals of the season which propelled him to the Marlies' all-time points record.
The record was previously 168 points, which just goes to show that players are typically not with the Marlies for very long.
What is very clear here, is that Steeves is perhaps too good to be with the Marlies, but is also somehow not good enough for the Maple Leafs, which creates a very interesting situation.
Steeves deserves to get those opportunities with the NHL club, but with one point in 11 games, it is hard to justify him getting into lineups.
Only time will tell whether or not Steeves is ever able to elevate his game and become a prominent NHLer.
