Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has played against some good defenseman during his time in the NHL and one of them is Brandon Carlo.
Yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs made a big splash as they traded Fraser Minten and a first-round pick in 2026 to the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenseman Brandon Carlo.
The blue-liner is expected to make his Leafs debut tonight against the Colorado Avalanche and fans are very excited to see him in action.
One person who has seen Carlo's talents first-hand is none other than Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, who has gone in the trenches agaisnt the 6'5", 220-pound defenseman.

While speaking to reporters on Friday, Matthews was asked about the Carlo trade and whether or not he likes the addition.
Of course, the captain is very much in favor of this as the forward said "he's a big man, hard to play against."
Brandon Carlo will now get to be part of the Maple Leafs' playoff push, something that Auston Matthews finds to be incredibly exciting.

The Maple Leafs also made a trade for Scott Laughton on Friday and it is expected that he will be part of the team's third-line.
Later today, Craig Berube will be coming through with his lineup for tonight's game and that is where we will see how Laughton and Carlo fit into this system.
Whatever the case may be, these were some exciting trades and the fans are very happy with general manager Brad Treliving and his staff.
While it felt like they were asleep at the wheel, they ended up coming through with some phenomenal moves.
