After losing to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night, Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews had to say something to rally his troops.

Auston Matthews scored a goal last night against the Buffalo Sabres, although the team still lost.
Overall, it was the team's third loss in a row, and the fanbase is now looking for some leadership from the captain who has underperformed.
After the game, the captain did speak to the media, and he actually gave fans a hopeful message that might get you excited for tonight's game.
Auston Matthews speaks out after another bad Maple Leafs loss
He noted that he thought despite the loss, the Leafs did play a hard game and put in lots of effort across all four lines.
I thought we really played a hard game tonight. I thought we did a lot of really good things. I thought we were rolling 4 lines, just competing at higher level, the level that we need to compete to win games consistently.
The captain also noted that good things are on the horizon, and that tonight's performance will help the team build a foundation for the next stretch.
When you work and compete, like we did for most of this game tonight, good things are going to happen. You're going to get out of these skids and you're going to win hockey games. So, if you clean up the little mistakes that cost you pucks in the back of your net and play the way and compete the way that we did tonight, I think that we'll be happy with the result most of the time.
If you are a Maple Leafs fan, we would not blame you for being fed up with these kinds of statements as they are not tangible results.
However, doom and gloom doesn't really help anyone either. Simply put, the Leafs need to win a game.
Tonight, they will have a chance to do that in a rematch against the Buffalo Sabres.
