Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz has been overworked to start the NHL season, and fans are getting very concerned about his well-being.
Anthony Stolarz let in five goals on 30 shots last night, and it was yet another bad game from the goaltender who had last season in a chokehold.
A goals-against average of 3.31 and a save percentage of .885 just isn't going to cut it. Not to mention, the losses are just piling up.
With
Joseph Woll out and
Cayden Primeau fighting to gain trust, Stolarz has been forced to play the first seven of eight games this season.
Craig Berube speaks on Anthony Stolarz's rough night
While speaking to the media, head coach Craig Berube sort of admitted to mismanaging the situation, noting that Stolarz is tired, and that he's played a ton of games.
I don't know. I want to wait until I talk to him first, but it's a lot for him. We leaned on him heavy here and it's a lot of games, a lot of hockey he played. So, I'm sure he's tired a little bit.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are taking on the Buffalo Sabres again tonight, and the expectation is that Cayden Primeau would be in the net.
After tonight's game, the Maple Leafs play the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night, and you have to wonder if Stolarz should get a break for that one as well.
Joseph Woll should be coming back soon, which will definitely put the Leafs in a good position for the next little while.
Hopefully, tonight's game can get this team back on track as they continue to struggle mightily.
