After playing seven out of eight games to start the NHL season, Anthony Stolarz has reached his breaking point.
Tonight, the Leafs are playing the Sabres in the second half of a back-to-back, and as you can imagine, Stolarz is slated to get a break.
Cayden Primeau in, Dennis Hildeby returns
In fact, according to Leafs Latest,
Cayden Primeau is the man who has been tasked with leading the Leafs to a victory tonight.
However, as it turns out, that is not the only change being made at the goaltender position tonight. In fact, this new change may lead to some concerns amongst the fanbase.
As per the Maple Leafs PR account on X, it has been revealed that Dennis Hildeby was called up by the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
The theory right now is that Hildeby is going to be the backup against the Buffalo Sabres. Stolarz needs a rest, and if Primeau gets hurt, Stollie will not be ready to go.
It remains unclear how long the Maple Leafs will keep Hildeby up with the team. The Maple Leafs play the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.
Whether or not Stolarz will be back in time for that game currently remains to be seen.
Whatever the case may be, it is clear that the Leafs have overworked their goaltender, and now, they are paying the consequences.
