Former London Knights goaltender Jake Patterson has tragically passed away at the age of 31, and the team recently mourned the netminder on social media.
Some extremely sad news has hit the hockey world this week as former London Knights goaltender
Jake Patterson passed away at the age of 31.
Patterson played for the Hamilton Red Wings and the London Nationals before joining the London Knights for the 2011-2012 season.
The following year, he would help the team win a Memorial Cup, winning 19 games throughout the postseason.
He played a total of three seasons with the Knights before finishing his junior career with the Chatham Maroons of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

On Friday, the Knights took to social media, where they acknowledged the passing of Patterson, who leaves behind a three-year-old child.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jake's family, friends, and loved ones
This is incredibly sad news. Whenever someone who is a part of the hockey fraternity dies, the entire sport mourns. It's one of those special things about the sport.
Overall, we still do not know the cause of death for Patterson, although that is not important right now. The well-being of his family is what should be the priority right now.
Our heart goes out to Patterson's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. We cannot imagine what they are going through.
RIP Jake Patterson. He is someone who will be missed. His legacy is one that will be kept alive by the Knights organization.
