Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is currently on a leave of absence, and according to a new report, the team is making a drastic move.

Ever since the first week of training camp, goaltender Joseph Woll has been on a leave of absence, and it has left the Toronto Maple Leafs in a tough spot.
Overall, Woll is a phenomenal goalie, but for now, the Maple Leafs have to play Cayden Primeau instead, which is not ideal.
There have been very few updates on Woll, and despite the calls for the goaltender to return, it seems as though things are getting worse rather than better.

Joseph Woll placed on LTIR

According to Leafs Latest, Woll has actually been placed on LTIR as a means of freeing up some cap space. Needless to say, he won't be back very soon.
The Maple Leafs have placed Joseph Woll on LTIR, freeing up his $3.67M cap hit as additional space.

After recalling Mermis, the team now has $3.63M in LTIR cap space remaining with 23 active players on the roster.
Woll joins Marshall Rifai on LTIR, while Chris Tanev and Scott Laughton are currnetly on the injured reserve.

IR: Tanev, Laughton

Only time will tell whether or not Joseph Woll comes back anytime soon. It is unlikely we see him before the month of October is up.
However, the Maple Leafs are certainly trying to give their goaltender some space, and we appreciate them doing so.
We wish the goaltender nothing the best, and we hope everything is going well for him right now. This situation isn't easy for anyone.
