Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll remains on a leave of absence, and if one thing is for certain, it is that the team could really use him right about now.
One of the storylines that has oftentimes been forgotten about to start the Toronto Maple Leafs season is the fact that
Joseph Woll is gone.
The Maple Leafs are in a rut and are too scared to play backup goaltender
Cayden Primeau. Meanwhile,
Anthony Stolarz is being overworked and hasn't looked like last year's version of himself.
Craig Berube won't say much about Joseph Woll
There was an optional practice today, and once again, Woll was not on the ice. This led to some questions directed at head coach Craig Berube, and the answers were not satisfactory.
As the head coach noted, he will be back when he's back, and not a second before. Simply put, the coaching staff has no idea when they will have their goaltender again.
"When he's back, he's back."
Is he skating?
"When he's back, he's back."
This is becoming a serious problem, and while fans respect Joseph Woll's privacy during this difficult time, some are simply looking for answers.
It is getting to the point where the Leafs don't even know if Woll will be back before Christmas, and that is a very big issue.
The goaltender won't be in game shape when he returns, and it could take weeks before he is ready to play hockey games again.
Needless to say, a lot has to be figured out going forward, and if the Maple Leafs can't get their goaltending situation figured out, this season is going South fast.
