Craig Berube Reveals He's on the Verge of a Major Change Involving Auston Matthews & William Nylander

Auston Matthews and
William Nylander are two players on different trajectories right now. Nylander continues to get better and better, while Matthews has been disappointing.
The captain has four goals and six points this season. Meanwhile, Nylander has two goals and 13 points so far. It just goes to show that some guys go up and go down.
Of course, both of these players are on different lines. Matthews is playing with
Max Domi and
Matthew Knies, which has not worked out in limited experience.
As for Nylander, he has been a stud with
John Tavares, and now,
Matias Maccelli. However, we could be seeing some new lines as soon as Friday.
Will William Nylander and Auston Matthews play together?
According to a tweet from Luke Fox of Sportsnet, head coach Craig Berube was asked about the possibility of Nylander and Matthews playing on a line together.
Berube had an interesting answer, noting that this is something he is very seriously considering right about now. It makes sense given the Leafs' struggles.
It's definitely something I'm thinking about.
Nylander and Matthews are a pair we only really get to see on the power play. However, it would be nice to see them together on five-on-five.
It might take some getting used to, but with the team's current lack of offense, it really does feel like there is no other choice but to just rip the band-aid off.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, this season has not been easy to stomach so far. But if this change happens, perhaps things will feel good again.
Only time will tell whether or not the Toronto Maple Leafs can get back on track in time for their back-to-back against the Buffalo Sabres.
