Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev went down with an injury on Tuesday night, and according to Craig Berube, it is not looking good for the star.

Chris Tanev is someone who has been a stud for the Toronto Maple Leafs since signing with the team, and there is no denying just how much he is needed.
In fact, some feel like he is the best defenseman on the team, and has even surpassed Morgan Rielly when it comes to level of importance.
Unfortunately, the Leafs may be forced to experience life without Tanev going forward.

He immediately went down with what appeared to be some sort of neck injury. It was scary, to say the least, and Tanev did not return to the game after.
Following the match, Leafs head coach Craig Berube was asked about Tanev and whether or not the forward would be back for the next game.
As he told Luke Fox of Sportsnet, there is a very realistic chance that Tanev is going to have to miss some time. For now, we do not know the exact nature of the injury.
With the Leafs sitting at a record of 3-3-1 right now, an injury to Chris Tanev would actually be quite disastrous right about now.
The Maple Leafs need some good news, and this is the complete opposite of that. At this point, it just feels like the start to this season could not get any worse.
This Friday, the Leafs are back in action against the Buffalo Sabres, and they will have to fight to remain near the top.
