Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has scratched Easton Cowan against the New Jersey Devils, which has proven to be a controversial decision.
Easton Cowan's first few games with the Toronto Maple Leafs have been a mixed bag, although they have definitely been encouraging.
Unfortunately, his production just hasn't been consistent enough. Of course, when you consider how he is a rookie, this makes a lot of sense.
Craig Berube gets honest about Easton Cowan
Today, Berube even made a difficult decision with Cowan, as he decided it would be best for the forward to spend tonight's game in the press box.
Cowan will not be in the lineup against the New Jersey Devils, and
Max Domi will be taking his place.
He needs a reset, get a game to watch. It's always good for young guys to watch a game at some point. But Cowan's in a good spot.
Berube's logic makes a lot of sense, even if you are one of those fans who want to see Cowan as often as possible in the early going.
The kid needs to develop, and playing on the top line and getting zero points isn't exactly the best way to go about doing that.
Only time will tell whether or not Cowan will get back into the lineup against the Buffalo Sabres.
