Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has a shaky future with the franchise, and the latest decision at practice is going to make things tougher for him.

Nick Robertson's time with the Toronto Maple Leafs is running thin, and pretty well everyone knows it. He has been wrapped up in various trade talks, and very few people believe he will be with the team long-term.
He has had a horrible start to the season with just one point in seven games. His role with the team is to score goals, and he can't seem to do that effectively.
While guys like Bobby McMann and Easton Cowan get promotions within the team, Robertson continues to suffer various demotions.

Toronto Maple Leafs demote Nick Robertson

He went from the third line to the fourth line just a couple of games ago. At practice today, Robertson found himself out of the lineup entirely.
As you can see, the third line now consists of Dakota Joshua, Nicolas Roy, and Easton Cowan. Meanwhile, the fourth line is Max Domi, Steven Lorentz, and Calle Jarnkrok.
The two leftovers are Robertson and Sammy Blais. Needless to say, Robertson can expect his first healthy scratch of the season on Friday against the Buffalo Sabres.
McMann - Matthews - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Maccelli
Joshua - Roy - Cowan
Lorentz - Domi - Jarnkrok
Blais, Robertson

McCabe - Carlo
Mermis* - Ekman-Larsson
Benoit - Myers

Given how ineffective Robertson has been throughout the season, it is very clear to us that this demotion is well deserved. It's tough to stomach, but it's deserved.
Robertson needs to be better, and if he is not going to produce, then the Maple Leafs are going to have to trade him sooner rather than later.
At this point, the fans just want to see the team win some games. That would fix a lot of what's wrong.
