Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander got injured against the Buffalo Sabres, and moments ago, we learned whether he will play in the rematch.
It was unfortunate, especially when you consider how the Maple Leafs have been dealing with all sorts of injuries to start the season.
Is William Nylander playing tonight?
There was a glimmer of hope during warm-up, as William Nylander was on the ice and was even taking line rushes. It felt like he was going to play.
As you can see below,
Calle Jarnkrok was going to be the scratch. This makes sense as Jarnkrok hasn't done much since getting three goals to start the year.
McMann - Matthews - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Maccelli
Joshua - Roy - Cowan
Lorentz - Domi - Robertson
Jarnkrok*
McCabe - Carlo
Rielly - Ekman-Larsson
Benoit - Myers
Mermis*
Primeau starts
Hildeby
Unfortunately, William Nylander will not play tonight. While Rielly is good to go, it has become clear that Nylander just can't make it happen.
This is bad news for the Maple Leafs, who desperately needed some good news going into tonight's game.
Hopefully, the Maple Leafs can still come through with a win, against all odds.
Only time will tell whether or not Nylander is back in a few days from now against the Calgary Flames.
