Don Cherry Confirms the Worst as Fans Say Goodbye

Hockey legend Don Cherry has been doing a podcast for a few years now, and with the Coach's Corner star getting up there in age, a hard decision has been made.
Six years ago, the former NHL head coach was fired from Hockey Night in Canada and Coach's Corner for his comments about immigrants who don't wear poppies during Remembrance Day.
Following this firing, Cherry went off on his own and started the "Grapevine Podcast" with his son. It was popular with diehard Cherry fans, although in recent years, it has become hard for the broadcaster to continue the show.
Months ago, Cherry made the claim that the show was going off the air. However, he went on to say that he would try to bring it back.
At 91 years old, Cherry is getting up there in age, and as it turns out, the podcast just isn't worth doing anymore. Cherry will never broadcast again.
Don Cherry calls it a career
This report comes from Joe Warmington of
The Kingston WHIG Standard, who has had a relationship with Cherry for many years. If anyone knows what Cherry is thinking, it would be him.
I just decided it was time to pack it in. It was fun, but everything has its time.
At his age, it makes perfect sense that Cherry would just want to ride off into the sunset and retire.
The NHL season has just started, and there really isn't much for him to comment on these days, anyway.
Only time will tell whether or not he changes his mind and comes back to the broadcasting world.
