Retired hockey broadcaster Don Cherry has no love lost between himself and Ron MacLean, despite the decades they spent together on Hockey Night in Canada.

Ron MacLean recently made the claim that Don Cherry used the Poppygate scandal to get out of his Sportsnet deal because he didn't want to be on TV anymore.
It was a bit clumsy, but it was the right outcome. Ultimately, that's what needed to happen.

It was liberating. Don needed out and the time was right. Remembrance Day was his last swing, taking a stance that's unpopular, but that feels good in his world.

Overall, this was an interesting claim, although it is one that was immediately retorted by Cherry, who didn't appreciate the words.

Don Cherry speaks his mind on Ron McLean

While speaking to Joe Warmington of The Toronto Sun, Cherry noted that he was very disappointed in MacLean for rehashing the past.
I'm very disappointed in Ron, disappointed he would bring this up.

Perhaps the most telling part of the interview was when he said that he had no interest in having a conversation with MacLean or even letting him into his home.
The wife doesn't like it. I have no feelings on it. I don't have any feelings towards Ron. Almost 40 years; I know one thing I'm disappointed.

At this point, it does not feel like these two will ever see eye to eye again or even do broadcasting together in a reunion of sorts.
No, we haven't. No, I don't really want to talk to Ron about this.

At 91 years old, Cherry has officially retired, so fans should probably just let him ride off into the sunset.
