A social media account on Hockey Twitter floated Patrik Laine to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and some fans had a conniption, noting that this would be catastrophic.

Last summer, Patrik Laine was traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Montreal Canadiens in a move that shook up the Habs.
However, Laine is now going into the final year of his contract, and with a cap hit of $7 million, the Habs might be motivated to trade him.
If they aren't interested in re-signing him, then some teams could use him as a scoring right-winger. As it turns out, the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of those teams in the aftermath of losing Mitch Marner.

Patrik Laine to the Toronto Maple Leafs?

NHL Watcher on X is a social media account dedicated to hockey news and commentary. Recently, they floated the idea of Laine going to the Leafs.
It was a bold assertion, and as you can imagine, it led to some pretty bold reactions. After all, Laine is a polarizing player.
Below, you can see that the vast majority of Maple Leafs fans simply are not interested in doing this.
The fans feel as though Patrik Laine will never live up to the hype, and that his injury issues would keep him out of the lineup for the long haul.
Overall, it is doubtful that general manager Brad Treliving would actually make a play for Patrik Laine.
They do not need scoring on the wing. They need someone who can set up Auston Matthews to score more goals.
Needless to say, this summer is going to be filled with extreme hypotheticals.
