Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand rejected the Toronto Maple Leafs this summer, and now, he is continuously taunting the biggest rival of his career.
Brad Marchand was tasked with a massive decision this summer, although he ended up going with the easiest option presented to him.
The Florida Panthers signed the forward to a six-year contract that will take him until he is 43 years old. While we doubt he lasts that long, it is still a nice deal for himself.
Now, the Panthers will be juggernauts for years to come, especially next season as they go for a three-peat, which hasn't been done in literal decades.
Brad Marchand with a message for the NHL
Elsewhere in that interview, Marchand found himself indirectly taunting the Maple Leafs, his biggest enemy. He basically said he won't be retiring anytime soon.
They're going to have to kick me out of the league for me to go. I'm going to play until I can't anymore.
This is very bad news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as Marchand has always been the team's Achilles' heel over the years.
The Maple Leafs have never defeated Marchand in a playoff series. Whether that be with the Boston Bruins or now, the Florida Panthers.
It just goes to show that the Leafs may be in some trouble for years to come, which is absolutely unfortunate for all of the fans out there.
