Brad Marchand Reveals Why He Rejected the Toronto Maple Leafs

Florida Panthers superstar forward Brad Marchand is under contract for six more years, and it came at the expense of the hopes of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Brad Marchand is going to be a member of the Florida Panthers for the next six seasons, and for Maple Leafs fans, this is going to hurt.
The forward spent the first portion of his career destroying the Leafs with the Bruins, and now he gets to do it with an even more unlikeable team.
To make it all worse, the Leafs were supposedly in on Marchand in free agency, but he ultimately chose the Panthers, as they were the best situation.

In an interview with RG.com, Marchand revealed that his decision to stay in Florida was a very simple one.
Overall, he loves Aaron Ekblad and Sam Bennett, and when it was clear they were coming back, he opted to make things official.
Bennett and E [Ekblad] coming back were huge factors in me staying.
Those guys are awesome, guys that I really vibe with well, and I really wanted to stay there. I just didn't really think it was going to be possible.
I didn't pay a ton of attention to the cap situation they were in, but I knew that we were up against it.

Marchand also went on to say that he appreciated how young the team made him feel during the Stanley Cup run.
It was the youngest I have felt in a long time walking into that room, the way they do things and the way they take care of themselves in there, I felt very rejuvenated. I'm excited to be part of it for a long time.
Needless to say, Marchand and the Panthers are a matchmade in heaven, and there is absolutely no denying that.
Whether or not they win more cups together, still remains to be seen.
