Connor McDavid exposed for getting preferential treatment against the Maple Leafs

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is one of the best players in the National Hockey League, so it should come as no surprise that referees let him get away with a lot.
At the end of the day, this is something that has been around for decades at this point.
For instance, if McDavid got hit just as hard as Darnell Nurse did, there is an argument to be made that Ryan Reaves could have been suspended for 10 games instead of five.
On Saturday, the Oilers played the Mape Leafs, and the preferential treatment towards McDavid seemed to be on full display.
We say this because of a play that occurred on the Oilers powerplay. As you can see below, McDavid shot John Tavares' stick out of his hands.
Previously, the Leafs had gotten a penalty for this exact same kind of play. However, when the McDavid did it, there were no consequences.

Overall, this is the kind of thing that you really do hate to see in the National Hockey League.
The rules should apply to every single player and not just a select few.
However, the Leafs shouldn't be too down in the dumps over this. At the end of the day, they won the game in overtime, 4-3.
Furthermore, this win marked their fifth win in the last six games. Needless to say, this Leafs team is on a roll.
They now boast a record of 11-6-2.
