The Toronto Maple Leafs keep losing games and it is up to the head coach, Craig Berube, to figure things out and motivate his guys in this last stretch of the season.
Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the Ottawa Senators by a score of 4-2 and as you can imagine, fans were pretty livid about it.
At this stage, the Leafs simply are not playing good enough. The playoffs are on the horizon and guys like Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly, and even John Tavares have been awful.
It is getting to a point where the games are starting to become a chore to watch, and the fanbase is looking to head coach Craig Berube for some optimism.
Craig Berube puts pressure on the Toronto Maple Leafs
After last night's loss, Berube spoke to the media and it is here where he gave a very honest assessment of his team but he also divulged some information on his leaders.
Essentially, he noted that the team cannot be undisciplined and he also said that while it may not seem like it right now, the leaders do want to win.
«They want to win. Trust me on that. They want to win. There's a sense of frustration, for sure, and we gotta look past that. We can't complain or get undisciplined because teams are checking us hard. That's what you gotta get through.»
For many, this statement is not going to be good enough, especially when you consider all of the issues this team has had as of late.
Fans want something a little bit more critical of the core four, especially with the poor play they've gotten away with over the past few weeks.
Something has got to give, especially with the team slipping in the standings and approaching the Wild Card territory.
If things don't improve fast, then this is going to be a quick exit for the Leafs come playoff time and that is an absolute nightmare for fans.
