Toronto Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton missed the first 13 games of the NHL season, and now, he is going to miss even more time.
Scott Laughton had a rough start to the season as he had to miss a few weeks due to a leg injury that he sustained during the preseason.
However, against the Boston Bruins on Saturday, he took a big hit, and ended up missing the rest of the game, which was devastating to see.
After the game, head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media, where he offered a somber update on the fourth line forward.
Scott Laughton out against the Carolina Hurricanes
Simply, Laughton will not be playing against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. Instead, he is going to be sitting this one out while awaiting evaluation.
Berube could not put a timeline on when Laughton is going to make his return to the lineup, although it doesn't seem hopeful right now.
At the end of the day, the Toronto Maple Leafs are in trouble, as they can't seem to string together wins when they need to most.
Last night's loss was mostly on poor goaltending, but at the same time, these constant injuries are not helping matters right now.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs can bounce back and get a win against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. If they don't, that will be two losses in a row.
This is a very critical time for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it will be very interesting to see how they respond here, going forward.
