This is just two games after Zadorov took Scott Laughton out of the Maple Leafs' lineup. Matthews was visibly emotional as he came off the ice.
It is yet more bad news for the Maple Leafs, who are currently losing to the Boston Bruins by a score of 4-1 in what has been a retched game so far.
As you can see from the video below, the hit does not look good, and it is yet another example of Zadorov trying to play on the edge of what is right.
Whether or not Matthews will miss the rest of the game remains to be seen, although what we saw was not good, and could go very poorly for the Leafs here.
The Maple Leafs are already having a horrible time tonight, and losing their captain might just be the event that puts this team in a depression.
