Darren Dreger reveals the Toronto Maple Leafs are being hit with outrageous trade demands

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving wants to make a splash, although, according to Darren Dreger, he is going to have to give up a lot.
If you have been watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, then you know that this is a team that is in desperate need of something good to happen, and fast.
Overall, the Leafs have struggled when it comes to securing wins and getting off the hot starts. Their offense isn't cutting it, and their defense has been especially bad.
The team currently has two needs that have to be fulfilled. Firstly, they need a top-six forward who can be paired with Auston Matthews. Secondly, they need a right-handed puck-moving defenseman.
If they cannot secure those two things, then they are in big trouble. Unfortunately, teams are not going to make it easy for them.

According to Darren Dreger, the Leafs simply don't have the assets to make something happen. In fact, teams will immediately look to trade for guys like Matthew Knies, Ben Danford, and Easton Cowan.
They don't have the assets to go out and swing for the fence; because if you're looking for a top 4 defenseman, guess who they're asking for: Knies; Danford...Cowan...1st in '28, they don't have a cupboard full
Only one of these players is believed to be available, and it just so happens to be none other than Ben Danford. Knies and Cowan are off limits.
With that in mind, Leafs fans should not expect to see any big moves from this team anytime soon. Instead, it seems like the Leafs are going to be stingy, going forward.
At the end of the day, Treliving does not have an easy job, and we do not envy him whatsoever.
Having said that, he has to make some big-boy decisions going forward, and the fans are going to be expecting the best from him.
