Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf is likely on his way out this week, and according to Chris Johnston, there is one team that would be perfect for Kampf.
David Kampf and the Toronto Maple Leafs are working on a solution that would work for both parties. Of course, this solution would include the Leafs and Kampf heading towards a breakup.
There are no spots on the roster for Kampf right now, and the forward has made it clear that he doesn't want to play in the AHL.
With that in mind, the Leafs are looking to make a trade. As Chris Johnston recently reported, that is going to be easier said than done.
Most teams don't want to take on Kampf's contract, especially since he will likely play on the fourth line. However, there is one team that could use him.
Could the Montreal Canadiens trade for David Kampf?
As Johnston reports, the Montreal Canadiens are a team that could be looking to bring Kampf into the fold.
They would love to have some depth at the center position, and Kampf is a veteran forward who can provide that, and then some.
A team like the Canadiens, they don't have a left shot center on their roster, you can't tell me they wouldn't use a player like him; he has attributes that a team like that would find appealing
Whether or not the Maple Leafs and the Canadiens end up coming to terms on a trade still remains to be seen. At this stage, we don't see it happening.
Having said that, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Kampf are allowing this to drag out as both sides want the best resolution possible.
Only time will tell whether or not both sides end up getting exactly what they want, or if this ends up being a stalemate.
