Craig Berube Explains Why he Refuses to Break Up Auston Matthews & Mitch Marner

Earlier today, we found out what the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup will be as the team takes on the Florida Panthers tonight in Game 6 of their second-round series.

Overall, this is going to be a huge game for the Leafs. If they lose, they are going to be done for the season and some guys will have to reckon with their futures.

As for head coach Craig Berube, his job is to rally his troops, including his captain Auston Matthews and his superstar playmaker Mitch Marner.

Both stars have not been great over the past few games and some fans have been calling for these two to be split up and placed on different lines.

However, while speaking to the media today, Berube made it crystal clear that he will not be splitting up his players. Instead, he wants them to figure it out, and he believes they will.

This is going to be the most important game of Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner's careers. They have to get it done or there will be consequences.

Matthews could have the captaincy stripped from him after just one season. Meanwhile, Marner could very well get a lot less money in free agency.

Whatever the case may be, these guys need to figure it out as the stakes have never been higher. If they don't, it is going to be bedlam in Toronto.

A strong start, some stout goaltending, a full 60 minutes will certainly be the key to a win. Only time will tell whether or not they can put it all together.
