Goaltender Anthony Stolarz is attempting to make his return to the Toronto Maple Leafs which has Craig Berube acting with an abundance of caution.
If you are a Maple Leafs fan, then you know that
Anthony Stolarz has been playing like one of the best goalies in the entire NHL.
He has a goals-against average of 2.15 and a save percentage of .927 which would have been good enough for Vezina consideration had he not gotten injured.
Anthony Stolarz close to Toronto Maple Leafs return
"We're going to have to see him more and get him in full practices, but he's doing well and he's in a good spot right now. Maybe a little ahead of schedule. I'm not sure exactly on (the timeline), but I don't think it's going to be a whole lot longer."
A new report from Darren Dreger, however, is a lot less conservative when it comes to Stolarz coming back.
In fact, the NHL insider claims that the goaltender could very well be back in about a week from now or even less.
"It seems like Stolarz is probably five to seven days away. So inside a week, I would say, away from the expected return. That pretty much aligns with what they suggested when he first went down and had the procedure. So that's probably best case scenario is the next five to seven days."
Overall, this is great news for the Maple Leafs who have been carried by
Joseph Woll as of late.
The team could definitely use Stolarz back as it would give them that tandem that was so successful earlier in the season.
Hopefully, when Stolarz comes back, he is just as good as he was at the start of the season.
