Toronto Maple Leafs forward Steven Lorentz got hit in the head against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, and today, Craig Berube offered up a surprising update.
Case in point, as soon as he came out of the game, the Maple Leafs were abysmal, and went on to lose the game by a score of 6-3.
Today, Lorentz was out of the lineup against the Red Wings in a Thanksgiving rematch. However, there was actually some good news courtesy of head coach Craig Berube.
Steven Lorentz could be back sooner than you think
The coach noted that earlier today, Lorentz was on the ice skating. This is phenomenal news, and it appears as though he could be back tomorrow against the Nashville Predators.
If that happens, one has to wonder who will come out of the lineup.
Easton Cowan was solid in his debut and should remain on the top line.
The odd man out is probably going to be Nick Robertson, who hasn't been very good this season, despite a strong preseason.
Overall, bringing Lorentz back so soon might be seen as a bit misguided by some of the fans out there, although we imagine others will quite enjoy this.
Whatever the case may be, the Leafs have lost two games in a row, and they are in desperate need of some help.
We will continue to keep you informed on Lorentz's status going forward.
