Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner has been out of the city for just a few months now, and he is already talking about the Toronto media.
The Toronto media can be tough, although not unfair. At the end of the day, there is a lot of interest in the
Maple Leafs, so it should come as no surprise that there is a lot of media attention to match.
When he became a free agent this past summer, it was almost a foregone conclusion that he was going to go somewhere else.
In the end, he went to Las Vegas, where the lights aren't nearly as bright, except for the Strip. That said, Marner is still talking down about the Toronto Media.
Mitch Marner is clearly not a fan of the Toronto Media
According to Emily Kaplan of ESPN, Marner has stated that it is "a breath of fresh air" to not have to deal with the media scrutiny he was used to.
It's a disrespectful comment to the hard-working media people of Toronto, although coming from Marner, this is not at all a surprise.
Unfortunately, for the Maple Leafs, they are certainly missing Mitch Marner right now as they are 1-2 without him. Not to mention,
Auston Matthews looks disappointing.
The team doesn't have nearly enough speed, and Marner could certainly be the guy to provide them with that.
At the end of the day, Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs will eventually need to learn how to move on from one another without all the mudslinging.
The fans also need to learn to move on, as their hatred has at times been quite destructive.
