Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty was receiving lots of interest in free agency; however, he has ultimately decided to go in a different direction.

Max Pacioretty had a solid season with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2024-25, despite being plagued by a plethora of injuries.
It was in the postseason that we really got to see Pacioretty shine. He was throwing the body around and was making some very impressive plays.
Once the offseason came around, there were many debates centered around whether or not the Maple Leafs should bring him back for another year.
The Detroit Red Wings were showing interest as well. However, Pacioretty never ended up signing with anyone and was mulling things over with his family.

Max Pacioretty calls it a career

According to Nick Alberga, it seems as though Pacioretty has made up his mind. On X, Alberga revealed that Pacioretty is working for the University of Michigan and is retiring from professional hockey.
Despite interest from multiple clubs over the summer, Max Pacioretty appears to be hanging up his skates.

He is now working with the University of Michigan.
Pacioretty had been up front and honest during the offseason that he struggled last season when he had to leave his family behind to play in Toronto.
With that in mind, it's not shocking that Pacioretty would make this decision. After all, he has been plagued by injury issues over the years.
It sucks to see an amazing player like that go, but sometimes Father Time comes for you, and there is nothing that can be done about it.
We wish Pacioretty the best of luck in all of his future endeavors.
