Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is a fan of John Tavares and we know this because of his recent comments after a win against the Florida Panthers.
John Tavares has been having an amazing season with the Toronto Maple Leafs with 70 points, including 36 goals in 68 games.
Overall, fans and pundits expected Tavares to struggle but that has not been the case. Despite his age, he continues to play some inspired hockey and fans are happy to see it.
Last night against the Florida Panthers, the former captain scored another goal and it helped propel the team to a win during an important moment in the season.

While speaking to the media after the Panthers game, Berube was extremely complimentary of Tavares and shared some words that will excite Leafs fans.
It is yet another example of how Tavares is thriving under the Berube system, which seems to be hitting its stride at the right time in the season.
"As a coach, you love a player like that. Professionalism and the mindset he has, day in and day out. He's almost like having another coach around... The preparation daily never changes."
At the end of the day, the fans want to see Tavares have a good playoff campaign. If he can keep it going in the playoffs, then the Leafs are in a good spot.
Until then, fans are going to remain skeptical as the playoffs have continued to be a struggle for this team for a very long time.
There is yearning for a playoff run and if it is ever going to happen, it is probably going to take place this year.
The Eastern Conference is wide open and the Leafs are playing a brand of hockey we just haven't seen out of them.
