NHL insider Darren Dreger recently came through with some details on Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner and his injury that kept him out of last night's game.
Mitch Marner missed practice on Monday and also missed the Maple Leafs' morning skate on Tuesday prior to their game against the Calgary Flames.
Mitch Marner is dealing with some «stiffness», but it's not considered a major concern at this point. He's sitting out tonight's game as a precaution, and the expectation is that he'll be ready for the Four Nations tournament.
However, if the issue lingers into Thursday's game against Seattle, it could become a bigger talking point. For now, the focus is on rest and recovery.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has also commented on the injury to Marner, noting that his forward is very likely to return on Thursday against the Kraken.
Of course, if that doesn't happen, there are going to be a lot of angry Maple Leafs fans out there.
But for now, there is no point wasting any head space on being frightened by Marner's status going forward.
The Leafs are on a two-game winning streak and that is the kind of thing that fans should be latching on to and being positive about.
With two more games until the 4 Nations Face-Off, it will be interesting to see how Marner's condition develops and whether or not he will participate.
