Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan is trying to make the team this season, although that just got a lot harder after the team acquired Dakota Joshua.
Easton Cowan is a prospect who has a lot of promise right now; however, there is no guarantee that he will be on the Toronto Maple Leafs next season.
He has to earn his spot on the roster, and while the fans would love to see him on the team, there has to actually be a fit before he can get some NHL reps.
Unfortunately, a move made yesterday has put Cowan on the back burner, and there is no telling if he will be able to overcome this.
Is there a place for Easton Cowan on the Toronto Maple Leafs?
I don't think Pezzetta should be in their 12 but presumably they think so. Doubly doesn't bode well for Nick Robertson, Easton Cowan, David Kampf, and Calle Jarnkork. Have to think two are moved/waived. They could still sign one more forward conceivably, too.
Even if Calle Jarnkrok and David Kampf were traded, Cowan would still be missing a spot on the team, which is pretty tragic, all things considered.
That said, anything can happen. The team could part ways with a number of players, that would then give Cowan a realistic shot at making the team.
Michael Pezzetta is a guy who was brought in purely because he can fight. If head coach Craig Berube chooses not to play him at all, then Cowan could get called up.
As for Nicholas Robertson, things are not looking great for him either as he is going to arbitration as an RFA.
