Elliotte Friedman Breaks His Silence on J.T. Miller to the Toronto Maple Leafs Rumors
J.T. Miller and his teammate
Elias Pettersson do not get along, and it has led to all sorts of rumors that the former will be traded from the Canucks prior to the deadline.
Elliotte Friedman on Toronto Maple Leafs interest in J.T. Miller
After all, the Maple Leafs have been gunning for a center, and Miller certainly fits the bill.
Rosehill even suggested that the Leafs could do a one-for-one trade involving struggling defenseman
Morgan Rielly.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, however, fans should not expect Toronto to make a move on J.T. Miller.
"No, I think if he goes anywhere it's going to be somewhere in the States."
Geography aside, Miller makes $8 million per year, and the Maple Leafs simply cannot afford a third-line Center that makes that much money.
Instead, they are better off going after guys like
Brock Nelson and
Yanni Gourde, who are a lot cheaper to trade for and will not break the bank in terms of payroll.
For now, the Maple Leafs are cruising as they have won three in a row, and all four lines appear to be clicking.
While a third-line center is still on the wishist, there is no doubt that this team can still be successful, even with J.T. Miller on the team.
