Kyle Dubas Gives Political Answer When Asked About Mitch Marner Leaving Toronto

Former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas was recently asked about Mitch Marner and his departure to the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Kyle Dubas is certainly one of the more controversial figures in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs, given his philosophy and methods when it comes to being a general manager.
Years ago, fans accused him of mismanaging the Mitch Marner signing. It became a huge mess, only for Marner to leave the franchise years later.
Even as the GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Kyle Dubas is still getting questions about Marner and his handling of the whole situation.

While speaking to the Cam & Strick Podcast, Dubas was asked directly about Marner leaving Toronto and whether or not the forward needed a change of scenery.
This led to a political answer from Dubas, who noted that he just wants everyone to come away from this better. He even said he will cheer for Marner and the Leafs going forward.
Yeah, I think that's the easy narrative perhaps. Awesome person, wonderful player, just started his own family... I hope it works out well for everybody. I hope it can galvanize the [Leafs], and I hope that Mitch plays well in Vegas... I'll cheer for him, and cheer for the rest of those guys to finally find their way through.
At the end of the day, there isn't much Kyle Dubas could have done to prevent what happened between Mitch Marner and the Maple Leafs.
It was inevitable, and sometimes, these relationships come to an end, and it is best for both parties.
Meanwhile, Dubas is likely to remain a controversial figure within the Toronto Maple Leafs fanbase. Whether or not he cares is another question entirely.
