Maple Leafs Make Tough Decision Involving Easton Cowan That Impacts His Rookie Season

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan has been solid to start the NHL season, and while he has shown tremendous flashes, he still needs to work on his game.
Easton Cowan has registered four points in the first 10 games of the NHL season, although he has had to go up and down the lineup, with little consistency.
He is going to be a great player, but he still needs some work. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that the Leafs sent him down to the Toronto Marlies today.
The decision comes ahead of tonight's game against the Utah Mammoth, where
Scott Laughton will be drawing back in for his season debut.
Cowan will now get to play his first games in the AHL, where he can develop his game amongst other young stars in the Leafs' development pipeline.
With Cowan going back down to the AHL, that means Sammy Blais is going to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs for now.
However, had they demoted Blais, he would have had to have gone on waivers first, which is less than ideal. Cowan was the easiest player to send down.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Utah Mammoth
With Scott Laughton and
Steven Lorentz back in the lineup against the Utah Mammoth, we could very well see some consistency from this team.
If you are a fan of the Maple Leafs, you will definitely welcome back as many bodies as possible. However, it still remains to be seen if the Leafs can win this one.
The Mammoth are a good team and boast a record of 9-4, which is impressive in the Western Confernece.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs can overcome this, and have themselves a big game.
