Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs are in action against the Utah Mammoth, and before the game, John Tavares will be receiving a very well-deserved honor.

John Tavares has been a stud for the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past decade, and even this year, he continues to elevate his game for the team.
So far this season, Tavares has 16 points in the first 13 games, which include six goals and 10 assists. In fact, last week, he scored the 500th goal of his career.
Unfortunately, this goal was scored on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the midst of a pretty gnarly blowout that was terrible for the Leafs.
With that in mind, the reactions to Tavares' goal were subdued. So much so that he received an apology from Maple Leafs broadcaster Jim Bowen.

Toronto Maple Leafs to make it up to John Tavares

On Wednesday against the Utah Mammoth, the Leafs plan to make it up to Tavares, as they are set to honor him with a ceremony that involves his family.
The Maple Leafs are set to honour John Tavares and his family tonight before the game against the Mammoth with a special video ceremony highlighting his 500th career goal, scored in Columbus seven days ago.
This is a great gesture, and we're sure there are going to be some tears in the building as this immense milestone gets celebrated.
Scoring 500 goals during the span of your career is no easy task, yet Tavares has managed to accomplish it with relative ease.
He is not done yet, especially since his contract states he will be with the Maple Leafs for at least another four seasons, including this one.
Hopefully, the Maple Leafs get inspired by the ceremony today, and have themselves a massive game against a solid Mammoth roster.
