Matthew Knies Breaks His Silence After Signing Massive Extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies officially has his contract extension, and fans in the city are rejoicing as an incredible young forward has been locked up.
Matthew Knies and the Toronto Maple Leafs were hard at work on a contract extension over the past few weeks, and for a while there, things weren't looking good.
Both sides were far apart, and there was a sense that this could extend into free agency, which is set to begin on Tuesday, July 1st.
However, the Maple Leafs and Knies were able to avoid disaster on Sunday as it was revealed the forward signed a six-year, $46.5 million contract.

The AAV on this deal is $7.75 million, which is tremendous value throughout the second half of the deal, especially with the salary cap going up.
Not to mention, when it comes to bridge deals, this is a solid one. Six years is better than four or five, which is what some fans had feared.
Knies seems to be happy with the new contract, as he took to social media with a message for Leafs fans, saying "6 more Leafs Nation!!!!!!!!!"
This is great news to end off the weekend, and if you are a Leafs fan, you cannot help but praise general manager Brad Treliving, who was able to get this deal done.
He also signed John Tavares on Friday, which shows that the general manager has been serious about locking in his guys in a timely fashion.
The Maple Leafs will have a lot of business to do on Tuesday, and we cannot wait to see what they end up doing, especially with the market set to take a turn.
Whether or not they are able to secure some of their favorite targets remains to be seen. If one thing is for certain, it is that the Leafs have a lot going for them right now.
