Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has been fantastic with the team this season, although it appears as though he is giving the referees a headache.

Coming into this season, fans were hoping to see some kind of a leap from Matthew Knies. It was his sophomore season, and while playing with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, there were going to be high expectations.
Under head coach Craig Berube, Knies has managed to exceed those expectations quite thoroughly, and the Maple Leafs fans love watching him play.
Overall, the forward plays on the razor's edge, and he knows how to push the buttons of his opponent.

Matthew Knies gets the referees attention

Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates this side of Knies. For instance, following his viral antics against goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, the forward has been told to tone it down by the referees.
Despite this, Knies is taking this all in stride, telling TSN's Mark Masters that he just knows how to use his size to his advantage.
"I just try to use my size & take his eyes as much as possible. I probably can't use my hands as much, I was told by the refs"
If one thing is for certain, it is that his head coach is proud of him and loves the effort that he has seen all season long.
"He's made a living there this year & he's doing a great job of it still"

Despite a loss in Game 3, Matthew Knies had a goal and an assist for the Leafs on Friday night. It was a great performance that gives him seven points in nine playoff games so far.
Hopefully, Knies can keep this going and perform for the Leafs well into a potential playoff run.
