Mitch Marner delivers blunt response when asked about the Maple Leafs offense
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner scored a goal last night against the Florida Panthers, although the offense was a problem and it needs to be addressed.
Marner was the only player to score for the Maple Leafs as they lost 5-1 to the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
The offense was very clearly a problem throughout the game as the bottom six was not generating anything.
This has been a problem all season long and now, it is starting to really annoy those who follow the team.
However, in the eyes of Marner, aggression is just one part of the equation.
Mitch Marner talks Maple Leafs offense
In Marner's eyes, a huge issue right now is the fact that the Leafs are missing a bunch of players.
I mean, we're missing half our team up front. It's tough. We've got a lot guys coming in trying to jump up in some roles, and they've done a great job. We've done a great job keeping pucks out of our net 5-on-5.
Tonight, we've got to be up the ice more. We've got to be up in the forecheck more. We've got to get around the net more and tip some more pucks for our D. They did a good job getting pucks through; we just weren't there enough.
Despite this, the Leafs have won seven of their last nine games and are looking pretty good with a record of 13-7-2.
