Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner recently sat down with Mark Masters, and he spoke about his departure and saying goodbye to Auston Matthews.
Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs went through a divorce at the end of June, and it culminated in a sign-and-trade with the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Overall, the fallout from Marner's departure has been hard to fathom, and there is no denying that the forward is going through it on a personal level.
Recently, the forward sat down with Mark Masters and gave his thoughts on leaving Toronto, and everything that comes with going to a new city.

For instance, after losing in Game 7 to the Florida Panthers, the forward received death threats and had security around his family for two whole weeks.
Having said that, it was still hard to say goodbye. For instance, Marner recalls being emotional during a final phone call with Leafs captain Auston Matthews.
Marner and Matthews were supposed to win a Stanley Cup together. Now, that is never going to happen as both players go their separate ways.
For Leafs fans, it is going to be hard to watch Marner in a Las Vegas Golden Knights jersey. It will be even harder to watch if he wins a Cup.
In January, Marner will make his return to Toronto, and there is no denying that it is going to be a major event that will have the Scotiabank Arena packed to the rafters.
Hopefully, Leafs fans are respectful, and refrain from throwing jerseys onto the ice.
